Energy Protection Isn’t About Fear — It’s About Empowerment

Have you ever walked into a room and instantly felt drained or on edge — even though nothing “bad” seemed to be happening? Or found yourself picking up someone else’s mood, thoughts, or even pain?

What Is Energy Protection?

Energy protection is about creating a strong, sovereign space around your energy field — one that you consciously hold and manage. It doesn’t mean becoming guarded or shutting others out. Think of it like sun cream or a raincoat. You’re not avoiding the world — you’re simply honouring what you need to feel safe and comfortable within it.

Empaths often feel they have to merge with others or take on their pain in order to help — but doing so only drains you and keeps both of you stuck. When you protect your energy, you’re affirming that your energy matters. You’re choosing to support others from a place of clarity and strength, not depletion.

I know this firsthand. Years ago, I stopped coaching because I was unknowingly absorbing my clients’ energy. I felt overwhelmed and drained, and it lowered my vibration. Since learning how to protect and clear my energy field, I’m a much more grounded, effective practitioner — able to hold space without being pulled into someone else’s struggle.

Why Is Protection Important?

When your energetic field is strong and protected, you feel:

  • Clear and grounded

  • Calm and confident

  • More present in your own body and energy

  • Less overwhelmed by other people’s emotions or environmental stress

When you’re unprotected, your energy can become tangled with others’. You might find yourself:

  • Absorbing other people’s moods or headaches

  • Struggling with anxiety, distraction or fatigue

  • Feeling “off” after being in certain places or around certain people

  • Picking up cords or attachments you didn’t even realise were there

It’s not always dramatic — sometimes it’s subtle. But over time, it adds up.

Protection Is About Intention

Protection begins with awareness. We set the intention to strengthen our own energy and stay in alignment — especially when we open up spiritually (such as during healing, meditation, or energy work).

You can still be open, intuitive, and compassionate — while also being centred in your energy and not everyone else’s.

What Are We Protecting Ourselves From?

  • Other people’s thoughts, moods or stress

  • Energetic cords

  • Overstimulating environments (noise, light, crowds)

  • Energetic imprints in places

  • Spirit attachment or psychic attack

  • General negativity that pulls us off-centre

How Do You Protect Your Energy?

There are lots of tools — the key is finding what works for you. Some favourites include:

  • Grounding practices

  • Cleansing your aura and chakras regularly

  • Visualising protective layers (bubbles, cloaks, pyramids, mirrors, etc.)

  • Setting strong energetic boundaries

  • Asking for support from your Guides, Angels or Source

  • Using crystals like black tourmaline, obsidian, or amber

  • Saying a prayer, blessing, or mantra before sessions, meetings, or travel

  • Staying in a positive vibration

Energy protection isn’t about living in fear. It’s about choosing how you engage with the world — with awareness, agency, and care for your own wellbeing.

When your energy is strong and protected, you don’t shrink back from life — you shine brighter within it.
